Cat6
Cat6: Cat6 stands for Category 6 cable which is a grade of ethernet cable used to carry network system data. It’s made of twisted pairs of copper wires and is designed to carry data at high speeds with reduced interference compared to earlier versions (like Cat5 or Cat5e).

Here are the key points about Cat6:
- Speed & Bandwidth: Supports up to 1 Gbps (Gigabit) speeds for up to 100 meters, and can handle 10 Gbps speeds for shorter distances (around 55 meters).
- Frequency: Rated up to 250 MHz, which allows it to handle more data at once compared to Cat5e (100 MHz).
- Design: Usually has tighter twists and sometimes a plastic spline (separator) inside to reduce crosstalk (signal interference).
- Connector: Uses the standard RJ-45 connectors.
- Use Case: Commonly used for home networks, offices, and businesses where reliable high-speed internet and internal networking are needed.
Think of it as the “middle ground” cable — faster and more durable than Cat5e, but less advanced (and cheaper) than Cat6a or Cat7.
